What parameters should you look before choosing a hosting company

10 main characteristics, which usually include in their descriptions are:

  • - The size of the space allocated to the user on the disk. Includes total space for site files, for e-mail, for databases. Our hosting offers 50 GB on SSD NVMe. Their use will give the execution of a large number of disk operations;
  • - Number of sites. The number of sites that can be created (placed) on that tariff. We don’t have limits on the number of sites or databases, you are limited only by the tariffs for which you pay;
  • - The number of databases coincides with the number of sites (one database is one site);
  • - RAM required for the operation of user scripts. 256 Mb is satisfactory, 512 Mb is good, 1024 Mb is excellent. Our minimum tariff gives 4Gb of RAM, which is 4096 Mb;
  • - Restriction on the CPU. Characteristics of the host server CPU. It is indicated in kernels or percentages. The number of cores at the minimum plan is 2, at the maximum - 16;
  • -  Number of processes. The number of PHP processes allowed in the account. Cloud hosting differs from the classic ones in that it allocates system resources that aren’t limited on the operator's side, so as a result you get a restriction only in the number of CPUs specified and the amount of RAM;
  • - The number of mailboxes that can be created on the hosting server. We look for information. If you are planning to actively engage in mailing, it’s worthwhile for the mail to search for a separate server. We don’t provide services with mailboxes, as for e-commerce sites there is a high probability of getting into spam lists. Because all users use external services;
  • - The limit for sending e-mail messages (the number of messages allowed for sending in 24 hours or per hour). In our plans to launch a mailing list service, now it's not there;
  • - Price per month/year; The price of the minimum plan  becomes 20 $/month, the maximum of 300 $/month;
  • - Hosting traffic (allowable amount of information to be passed per month). Instead of the amount of restricted traffic, we entered a limit on the number of requests. For the minimum plan - 1 000 000 requests, for the maximum - 50 000 000.

 

There are also other equally important characteristics like:

Availability FTP access hosting - access the site via FTP. Required hosting parameter, which simplifies the work with the site. We have access to FTP and SFTP/SSH protocols.

Availability of DNS server hosting. There are two types of hosting for managing DNS servers.

  • - First, oblige the user to register with the registrar the domain names of the DNS server hosting;
  •  - The second, loyal to the placement of DNS servers and may allow you to register DNS servers. There are less such hosters.

We have our own DNS servers that work in Geo DNS mode (each country has its own IP-addresses of servers).

The availability of SSL certification. Virtually all hosting companies don’t show the possibility of SSL certification, if they are paid. If you see an SSL certificate in the hosting services, it means it's free and it's good. Paid certificate costs at least 10$ per month, for each domain;

Free certificate isn’t worth anything and the hosting company can provide such a service if you work with the free certification center, for example, Let's Encrypt. Our hosting provides free SSL certificates, with support for HTTP/2 protocol.
